Spectacular Spanish Contest

On the 3rd of November Bolivar High School hosted the OHSL Foreign language competition for the first time in last 4 years. Five area schools attended the competition including Purdy, Summit Private Academy, Central High School, Greenwood Laboratory school, and the one and only Bolivar High School.

Close to 100 students participated events like the Culture Bowl, Spanish poetry, Spanish-language singing, vocabulary, and Latin dance. The Culture Bowl ended in a close race to the end, but Bolivar’s team (consisting of Emma Geurin, Josie Douglas, Sara Bowes, and Audrey Graves) came out on top.

Bolivar’s Taylor Clayton came close to first in singing, but fell just short, finishing in 2nd place, along with our Spanish singer Laci Varner who also played piano. Our vocab team placed 4th with Annmarie Heffernan and 5th with Addison Martino. Our level 1 dancers got 2nd place with Aleah and Sophia Slayer, and 3rd place for Symphony Skvarek and Kaden Hoover. As for our level 2 dancers, Gage Foster and Sidney Alaimo finished with 2nd place. With all of our wins combined, Bolivar came out with a 2nd place overall sweepstakes award.
